Effective communication is every teacher's business. This is something that
seems obvious to an English language teacher – after all, our core business is
to build up the skills of our students, whether in reading writing, speaking,
listening or viewing. The ultimate aim is so that they can communicate well with
others.
While this may be less obvious to English-medium colleagues, the nature of
our job demands that we communicate ideas, whether in explaining complex
Mathematics or scientific concepts, or by asking questions to help our students
understand the big shifts in history, or the impact of our actions on the
environment.
In turn, students are expected to demonstrate their understanding through
language – whether written, or spoken. There are subject-specific ways of
communicating that the English language teacher may not be able to help students
with: it is thus important that all of us should join hands to help our students
acquire a repertoire of skills so that they can communicate well according to
purpose, audience, context and culture.

from readings and resources to fun widgets. It is a very rich site, so please do
take the time to browse through, and bookmark pages that will be of particular
interest to you.
This not so new blog is also your space – and you will see that it is a highly
collaborative space. This is because at Exypnos Academy, we believe that it takes a
community of learners to share, and collectively build a body of knowledge,
ideas and experiences so that we strengthen each other as members of a
fraternity. I have often said that Exypnos Academy is our HOME, with HOME standing for
'Help Our (Blog) Members Excel'!
